1971: The Sound Recording Agreement made it illegal to make copies of recorded audio. We all know how that turned out.
1978: Sony and Phillips create a joint task force for flat disc audio storage. Eventually, we call these things CDs.
1979: The Walkman is released. Music is more portable than ever before.
